Ways You Went

A yin and yang of interconnected opposites from The Crossing and Donald Nally, joined by the PRISM Quartet and organist Scott Dettra. Martin Bresnick’s song cycle Self-Portraits 1964 traces the inner life of a young intellectual collecting trash by day and escaping into literature by night, while Mason Bates’ Mass Transmission sets a 1920s telegraph conversation between mother and daughter — human warmth carried through a mechanistic medium.
