The Crossing, conducted by Donald Nally, performs two commissioned works: Justine Chen’s Shallow Breath and Stealth, which sets poet Jena Osman’s reflections on data mining, surveillance, and 21st-century paranoia in tittering, whispering, often frantic choral sequences; and Nicholas Cline’s watershed, joined by Matthew Levy on tenor saxophone, which sings the American history of water as both political boundary and shared community resource.
